Victorian Floriography Workshop

Thursday, May 14, 2026 5:30 - 7:00 pm EST

Step into a world where every bloom has something to say. As our historic peony garden reaches its peak, guests are invited to explore blossoms that Victorians once used to communicate love, longing, friendship, and hope. The evening begins with a tour through the Presidential Site’s gardens, then you’ll learn how flowers became a secret language capable of expressing what words could not.

From there, we’ll explore the art of floriography in a relaxed, modern way—connecting Victorian tradition to the joy of choosing stems with meaning. With guidance and plenty of inspiration, you’ll build your own floral arrangement designed to send a personal message. You may even select freshly cut peonies from our gardens, a classic symbol of romance and affection.

Sip wine, snack on charcuterie, and enjoy a hands-on creative experience that blends history, beauty, and imagination. By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with a gorgeous arrangement, a take-home vase, and a new appreciation for the stories flowers can tell.
