Delaware Street’s Architectural Story

Join us for an evening of history, architecture, and engaging conversation as we welcome Dr. James Glass, renowned preservationist and architectural historian, for an author talk and book signing of his newest book, Architecture in Indianapolis: 1820–1900.

The evening begins at 5:30 PM with a wine and cheese reception in the Welcome Center, followed by Dr. Glass’s 6:00 PM talk on the historic architecture of Delaware Street. He will explore the diverse styles that shaped Indianapolis’ early cityscape—from Federal and Greek Revival to Italianate and French Second Empire—and examine how economic booms, transportation advancements, and urban growth influenced the city’s built environment.

Murder Me Thrice

April 25-26 May 2-4, 9-10

Prepare for an evening of suspense as Candlelight Theatre presents three classic thrillers in “Murder Me Thrice.” Written by masters of suspense, each play is performed in a different room of the Harrison residence, a continuation of a tradition stretching back to when Benjamin and Caroline Harrison hosted playing in the home in the late 19th century.

Juneteenth Foodways Festival, made possible through the generosity of Eli Lilly and Company Foundation, features an interactive food experience highlighting the hidden history of diverse Hoosiers from the 1860s-1890s from the perspective of African-Americans. It shares Black foodways contributions to American culture with a focus on Dolly Johnson, the White House Chef hired by President Harrison.
