On back in Mrs. Stanford's hand writing is following inscription: "This was painted by and presented to me by President Harrison's 1st wife in the year 1891 - Jan 1st New Year's greeting. I Prized it very highly. / Jane L. Stanford". Signed C. S. Harrison 1891.
