Life in the White House

The White House has always been a combination of the “people’s house” and the home of the First Family. Every president and first lady have had to determine how they share the executive mansion with the American people while maintaining room for their private life. In the upcoming exhibit, Life in the White House, visitors will discover how the Harrison family navigated private and public life while living in the “people’s house.” Open from January 25th, 2024 through November 10th, 2024, Life in the White House will showcase rarely seen photographs, memorabilia, letters, and personal effects belonging to various members of the Harrison family while living in the White House.

“The flag cannot stand for the benevolent policies of an administration. It stands for more permanent things — for things that changing administrations have no power to change.” Benjamin Harrison
